Akubra Hat

Me in France ,1998

No one should go on an adventure without a hat! My Akubra Snowy River hat was purchased by my parents in Australia (from a small mining town called Tully, in Queensland) in the mid 1990’s. It has subsequently been around the world with me, to the Far East, Africa, Europe and the USA. Wearing this whilst travelling makes me feel like Indiana Jones!

Designed for the Aussie Outback, it protects you from the elements extremely well, be it from the sun or rain. Mine is now so worn in that the leather band is starting to crack, but the hat itself has still held its shape and colour. It originally came with a jaunty feather in the hat band, however this disappeared at some unknown point in time. I have since replaced it with a goose feather (Canadian Goose, to be precise) found whilst out on one of our day trips.

I would thoroughly recommend anyone with an adventurous spirit to rush out and buy one immediately. Check them out here. As you can see from the photo (taken in France in 1998), wearing the hat clearly leads to good times! (PS – I gave up smoking many years ago, don’t smoke, it is stupid and kills you!)
